Latte Face Scrub

Latte Face Scrub

Latte Face Scrub

I love the convenience with the coffee shop flavor of my K Cup coffees, but I hate the thought of tossing all those k cups and grounds away- so I reuse whenever I can. Sometimes I scoop out the grounds to add to my compost pile, but I also love to use them in other ways like in my beauty regimen.  Coffee is not only an excellent exfoliator that brightens and softens the skin but the caffeine also reduces redness.  Olive oil is well known to be a conditioning and anti aging ingredient.  Besides the fact that this scrub is inexpensive and simple to make you can feel great knowing what each ingredient is-  they are all pronounceable!  For this face scrub I raided the pantry and recreated a coffee house favorite in a new way.

Ingredients:

  • 2 leftover k cup grounds
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1-2 Tbsp. olive oil
  • ½ tsp. vanilla
  • 1 vitamin E capsule

Directions:

In a small bowl combine all ingredients until evenly mixed, start with 1 Tbsp. of olive oil and continue adding until your desired consistency is reached.

As it sits it will break down some and become wetter so make a slightly drier mix than you think you will need.

The vitamin E capsule adds another benefit to your skin while also helping to preserve the ingredients in your face scrub.

Store in an airtight container for up to 6 weeks.

To use: Apply a generous amount of scrub to a damp face, working in a circular motion.  Rinse and wipe away- Your skin is left soft and moisturized.

Use once a week, more often may irritate the skin.

I hate wasting coffee grounds, too. I use them in my compost as well, but have never thought to make them into a facial scrub! Thanks for the idea, and for sharing at Merry Monday this week 🙂

I have a friend who swears by exfoliating with coffee grounds! I’ll have to pass this on. Pinned!
