I watched an ABC News report this morning with some disturbing news. There have been 11 cases of the same strain of E.Coli detected in 4 southern states including Georgia, Alabama, and Lousiana. I know many of you are in these states, so I wanted to make sure you know about it. So far there are 5 in the Atlanta area, 3 in New Orleans area (including a death), 2 in Alabama, and 1 in Florida.
The scary part is that they don’t know where the E.Coli is originating from. They did confirm that they are from the same source, but do not know what that source is.
While they are investigating, and we are waiting there are a couple of things we can do to possibly limit exposure.
- Cook your meat thoroughly – ground beef to at least 160 degrees.
- Wash your veggies and fruits carefully before eating.
- Wash hands and kitchen surfaces carefully after handling raw meat.
I would also recommend the following from Phillippians 4: 6-7
do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
