During this busy time of the year, one of the things that often gets put on the back burner is family Bible study. Family Bible study is such a special time we can spend with our kiddos while they are still young. I want to tell you about a great program that can help you get into the Word with your family and grow your knowledge about the Bible in only 20 minutes per day.
You’ve heard of spelling bees, science fairs, and math bowls, but did you know that there is another competition that has more eternal rewards. The Bible Bee is an annual competition that has the primary goal of getting families into the Word of God together. Hiding God’s word in our hearts and our children’s hearts is reward enough, but as a great bonus Bible Bee winners have the chance to compete for $260,000 in prize money.
According to the Bible Bee’s Website, here’s all the awesome stuff you’ll get with your $30 registration:
- 25 Bible Memory Cards. That works out to just over 2 cards per week during the summer, a “do-able” goal for your whole family!
- A Bible in one of five translations
- A “Sword Study” in-depth study on one book of the Bible leveled for three age groups, enabling the whole family to study the same book at the same pace. Sword Studies don’t just teach the Bible, they teach a lifelong skill of how to study and apply the Bible, in just 20 minutes a day.
- An official participant Bible Bee T-shirt and button
- Gifts from our ministry partners that support the Sword Study learning
- A Parent Guidebook that gives a solid overview of the study and includes a Family Bonfire Guide, so that you can easily lead your family in fun times of learning and sharing what the Lord has taught you throughout the week.
You don’t have to plan to compete in order to register and receive the materials so this is a great way to help your family learn more about the Bible together. I have enrolled my oldest 3 boys, and they cannot wait to get started.
Go here to read more about the Bible Bee, and to register your family. Registration will be until May 31st.
Or…..Would you like to win a FREE Family Bible Bee Registration? Even if you don’t want to compete, this is a great package to help you study the Bible with your family.

My favorite Bible verse is one that my great-grandmother taught me when I was not even old enough to go to school. This verse was the first verse I memorized aside from John 3:16. That verse is Proverbs 18:24, “A man that hath friends must show himself friendly. And there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.”
