I recently had a question from one of my readers, and I thought I’d post the answer here in case it might be helpful.
The Question:Â Could you please explain how a Buy 1, Get 1 Free coupon works with a Buy 1, Get 1 Free Sale?
Scenario:
Gillette Fusion Razors are Buy 1 Get 1 Free at your favorite store this week.
You also have a coupon that states “Buy 1 Gillette Fusion Razor get 1 Free”
How is this going to work at your store? Well the answer is…..it depends.
It depends on how your store handles Buy 1, Get 1 Free Deals. Some stores (like my Publix in Alabama) ring up each item as half price. Other stores will ring up the first item at full price and the 2nd item as zero. Here’s how it would work in each case:
Case 1: Each Item rings up half price |
Case 2: First Item Rings up Full Price, Second Item $0.00 |

` Stores with this type of scenario: Publix in North and Central Alabama, North & Central Georgia, Tennessee, NC &Â SC. |
Stores with this type of scenario: Most others – Publix in Florida, South Alabama & Georgia, Winn Dixie, Walgreens, Target, etc. |
I hope that helps! Got Questions????
I have also used a B1G1 with another coupon. The way it was explained to me is that the B1G1 is for the free item and you can use another coupon for the item you are buying, stacking the coupons for bigger savings.
Although some stores like Wal-mart state in their copon policy that a B1G1 has to state a specific price limit on it or they won’t take it.
